Special Opening of the Registered Tangible Cultural Property, Shinzansô
Shinsenkyô, a national Place of Scenic Beauty in Hakone Town, Kanagawa Prefecture, where the Hakone Museum of Art is located, is frequently featured on TV programs as one of Hakone’s premier autumn foliage viewing spots. During the autumn foliage season in November, a large number of tourists visited. During this period, special openings of normally closed garden areas and the Registered Tangible Cultural Property (building) were also conducted.

Shinsenkyô is home to over 400 maple trees, which turned vibrant shades of red and yellow throughout the garden. In the moss garden, the red and yellow foliage created a beautiful contrast with the green moss, captivating many tourists. Visitors were seen eagerly strolling through the garden, capturing the stunning scenery with their smartphones and cameras.

In conjunction with the autumn foliage season, the Sekiraku-en (rock garden), which is usually closed to the public, was opened for viewing. Additionally, the Shinzansô, a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, was specially opened to the public on select days with a limited number of visitors. Tourists who toured the area appreciated the architectural beauty that reflects the history of Gôra, developed as a villa and tourist destination since the Taisho era, and enjoyed the autumn leaves from within the residence.

Similarly, at Nikkoden, another Registered Tangible Cultural Property, a Ryukyu dance performance by the Kourin no Kai was held on November 22 and 23.
