The Zuisenkyô Marchè was held at Ohito Zuisenkyô on July 13. Nature Farming Method vegetables and miscellaneous goods were sold, and there were also experience corners where visitors could try out the tea ceremony and kimono dressing, attracting families from neighboring cities and towns.

 

 

Items for sale included vegetables grown with care by MOA Nature Farming producers and students from the Nature Farming College, newly developed varieties of rice, pesticide-free tea leaves, processed Jerusalem artichoke foods, handmade wooden goods, and remade miscellaneous goods. Relaxing massages were also available, and visitors enjoyed interacting with the exhibitors. The “vegetable scooping” corner, in which participants used a spoon to scoop up vegetables such as tomatoes, eggplants and mini cabbages floating in water within 30 seconds, proved popular with both adults and children struggling to pick up the larger vegetables.

 

 

In the traditional Japanese teahouse area, participants had the opportunity to try on kimonos and drink matcha tea. Customers who chose colorful, vibrant yukatas, obi sashes, hair accessories, etc. enjoyed shopping at the market in their cool-looking yukata outfits. During the matcha experience, people could be seen enjoying a cup of tea while admiring a replica of Takeuchi Seihō’s “Green Bamboo and Sparrow” which was displayed in the living room of the old farm house.

 

 

On the same day, an open campus was also held at the Nature Farming College of the Agriculture, Environment and Health Research Institute (Public Interest Incorporated Foundation), and six people participated. After Principal Yoshifumi Tasaka explained the curriculum and student life, the students toured the farmland where they will be doing their practical training. At the Marchè market, participants sampled the rice produced using the Nature Farming Method and observed the vegetables being sold by the university.

 

 

The Zuisenkyô Marchè is held once a month from July to December. The next events are scheduled for Saturday, August 24, Saturday, September 14, Saturday, October 19, Saturday, December 14; and also on Saturday, November 16, when the Food, Agriculture, and Health Festival featuring delicious events such as harvesting experiences will be held. The Nature Farming College Open Campus will be held on the same day as the market, and anyone is welcome to come and visit.
