New Year favorite osechi and/or box lunch! Matsukaze Grilled Minced Chicken

Grilled minced chicken is an image of a standard New Year osechi dish. It’s delicious at room temperature and can be frozen, so it’s perfect as a side dish for box lunch or for any meal.

Using an oven allows you to heat evenly, giving it a beautiful finish. If you adjust the heating time while watching how it is cooked, you can also make it using your toaster.

Pointers from Rie

  • If you don’t have a flat deep container, make it with your hands. Place a piece of aluminum foil cut to the same size under the cooking sheet, and fold the four sides into 1 cm widths. Raise the folded part to make a box of about 10 x 15 cm, then staple the four corners to complete.
  • It is common to sprinkle sesame seeds on the surface. White sesame seeds are easy to obtain and enhances the aroma and texture.
  • If you cut it into squares, it will be easier to pack it in a bowl; and if you cut it into wide ends and stick a toothpick into it, it will give it a New Year’s atmosphere.
